Obviously, if you advertise your goods or services here you want to get the best exposure for your ad. Ideally you should put some thought into writing your ad description and add good, clear pictures to showcase your item. We have put some suggestions together for you to consider. In general, the use of upper case letters throughout an ad is not good practice as people can view this as shouting. Nevertheless sometimes typing in upper case can be quite useful to stress the importance of certain statements, for example LAST ITEM REMAINING or ON SALE TODAY ONLY, etc.

Brief description
It is the headline of your ad that appears in the search results so it is crucial to put the most important information about your ad in here. Keep your description short, accurate and to the point so you don’t confuse people, for example “2009 Toyota Avensis for sale in Dublin - Diesel €2000.”

Description
This is the area where people get to because they have a real interest in your goods and have clicked on your ad. Therefore you should provide them with more information, keeping descriptions detailed and interesting to encourage them to contact you. Describe your item in an honest and accurate manner giving concrete details in a way that will entice people to buy from you, for example 2004 BMW, low mileage car, just passed NCT, two months TAX, etc. The description you give is your sales pitch and can be the difference between selling and not selling.

Add photos or video
The next step is adding pictures or videos to your ad to give potential buyers a clear idea of what you are selling. A picture paints 1,000 words so photograph your item from different angles, and try to include up to 8 images. This helps people 'weigh up' the item and makes it much more tangible for them. Of course, the best option is to upload the most recent pictures of the original item, but if you find it difficult to take good pictures, you can perhaps post pictures from the manufacturer’s website. However, ensure you are not breaching any copyright laws. Since it is against European and Irish law to provide false information about the items you advertise, you should ensure you are compliant with the law. Price
Price is king when it comes to selling. You should research how much similar goods are being sold for and decide your price. Make sure you explain to potential buyers exactly what it is you are charging for, for example Spare battery, extra memory etc. and mention whether the price is negotiable or not.

Contact
You will need a valid phone number so that potential buyers can contact you. You can also add your email address as an alternative method of contact.

Links
Links to other websites can be included in the description of the goods you are advertising. However, please note that it is our policy not to allow links to other classified or auction websites.

Remove ads
Once your goods has found it's new owner it's time to mark the ad as SOLD which will automatically remove it from the current ad list and ensures you won’t receive further calls or emails. If you don’t remove your ad's then it is the policy of DealTime to automatically remove them after the two month advertising period.

Email
You will need an email address to publish an ad even if you want to be contacted from buyers by telephone. At Dealtime we will communicate with you via the email address you provide us with and will only contact you in relation to your ad. We recommend that you add support@dealtime.ie to your email address book which will be the fastest way to address a message to us because you won’t have to re-type our address each time you send us an email and it will also ensure you receive any emails from us. Please be assured that we will keep your personal information safe and secure and will ensure it is not disclosed to others.
